An international cultural exchange project launched on Nov 22 will invite young foreigners to visit the China Soong Ching Ling Science and Culture Center for Young People and experience traditional Chinese culture through various activities.
At the center, foreign students and their families can sample the charm of traditional Chinese culture through authentic Peking Opera performance, playing ancient Chinese musical instruments, trying the traditional pitch-pot game, drawing paintings on porcelain pieces, making thread-bound books, creating embroidery decorations or writing down oracle-bone characters.
Sponsored by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and China Everbright Group, the project will also encourage foreign embassies to display their own unique cultures for Chinese visitors to appreciate and experience.
Titled “Feel China in a Diverse and Harmonious World”, the event has attracted ambassadors and officials from nearly 40 foreign countries including Algeria, Tunisia, Austria and Malaysia to attend its opening ceremony.
Jing Dunquan, vice-chairman of the foundation, said the event will serve as a platform for young people from around the globe to communicate with and learn from each other in an open-minded way. It will also sow seeds of peace, cooperation as well as mutual understanding and development.
