The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO), led by Chinese conductor Yu Long, kicked off their 140th anniversary world tour with a concert at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Virginia, the US on Wednesday. 

The orchestra will travel to Chicago, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and London in following weeks. Zhou Ping, president of the SSO, said in a press release that the world tour will see the SSO take the stage at top music festivals around the world and make China’s voice be heard.
